Philippines Reports Three Perished in Typhoon Wipha

(MENAFN) Typhoon Wipha has claimed the lives of three Filipinos and affected more than 300,000 people in the country over the past several days, according to Philippine officials on Sunday.

By Sunday morning, authorities confirmed three fatalities, alongside three injured and three missing persons, all linked to the combined effects of Typhoon Wipha and the southwest monsoon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported in its latest update.

The NDRRMC noted that these casualty figures are still undergoing validation.

Nationwide, the storm has impacted 120,008 families, totaling 370,289 individuals, the council added.

Wipha left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday after intensifying into a typhoon, before making landfall in southern China on Sunday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned in its Sunday bulletin that the southwest monsoon will persist, continuing to bring heavy rainfall to various parts of the country.
