(MENAFN) Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources revealed on Monday that investment in the country’s energy and mineral resources sector soared to $13.9 billion in the first half of 2025 — marking the highest level seen in five years. This figure represents a sharp 24.1 percent increase from $11.2 billion recorded during the same period last year.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, detailed the breakdown: "The investments are mostly in the coal and gas sectors. The sub-sector with the highest investment realization was oil and natural gas, with an investment value of 8.1 billion dollars, followed by mineral and coal at 3.1 billion dollars."

In a related update, Indonesian Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani reported that total investment realization for the second quarter of 2025 reached 477.7 trillion rupiahs (approximately $29.3 billion), reflecting an 11.5 percent increase compared to the same quarter last year.
