SAN MATEO, CA, UNITED STATES, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Palm Avenue Detox, a 22-bed, clinically operated residential withdrawal management program of Horizon Treatment Services, was selected to receive the 2026 David Lewis Award from San Mateo County Health’s Behavioral Health & Recovery Services (BHRS) on September 2nd in San Mateo, CA. The prestigious award is presented to an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to substance use recovery through successful programs, community education, stigma reduction, or client advocacy. The Palm Avenue Detox recognition comes during National Recovery Month, a time that highlights the importance of evidence-based treatment and raises awareness of the millions of individuals currently in recovery.

Palm Avenue Detox is a co-ed program serving adults experiencing substance use disorders in San Mateo County and has recently received a 3-year CARF accreditation which further reflects the program’s rigorous conformance with behavioral health best practices. Clients of Palm Avenue Detox are screened for medical necessity and are rigorously monitored using a state-of-the-art system.

“I am grateful to San Mateo Behavioral Health & Recovery Services for recognizing Palm’s contributions to the Behavioral Health system. The program’s compassionate and dedicated staff along with its ability to prescribe life-saving Medications for Addiction Treatment in-house, have no doubt led to very high patient satisfaction scores. State reviews over the last 2 years have also confirmed that Palm Avenue Detox meets every applicable standard for client care, safety, and program operations, but we insist on taking it a step further. I’m so proud of the team,” said Jaime Campos, CEO of Horizon Treatment Services.

The presentation of the David Lewis Award reflects the significant changes and improvements Palm Avenue Detox has undergone in recent years. As part of an extensive operational overhaul, the program increased its compliance measures with additional clinical training and the adoption of new technology designed to strengthen safety and elevate the quality of care provided to clients.

The recognition also comes as Horizon Treatment Services prepares to expand its behavioral health services in San Mateo County with a brand-new 69-bed facility that will offer withdrawal management, sobering, and residential treatment services in one location. The new proposed Horizon Recovery Center further reflects Horizon’s commitment to providing evidence-based behavioral health services and building a stronger continuum of care for San Mateo County residents.
