Sept. 24 event at The Music Center at Strathmore honors community leaders fighting hunger throughout Montgomery County, Maryland.

(BRP Family Law) is proud to support Manna Food Center’s 2026 Heroes Against Hunger Award Reception, an annual celebration recognizing individuals, businesses, and community organizations making a meaningful difference in the fight against hunger in Montgomery County.

The 2026 reception will take place Thursday, September 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane in North Bethesda.

For BRP Family Law, supporting Heroes Against Hunger is an opportunity to stand behind an organization whose work directly strengthens the community the firm has served for decades.

Celebrating the 2026 Heroes Against Hunger

Each year, Manna Food Center recognizes outstanding partners in three categories: Individual Hero, Corporate Hero, and Community Hero.
The 2026 Community Hero is Crossroads Community Food Network, whose Crossroads Farmers Market has spent 20 years expanding equitable access to nutritious food. Its nutrition incentive programs match SNAP and WIC benefits, helping participating families stretch their food budgets while supporting a community-rooted approach to food access.

The 2026 Individual Hero is Steven Mandel, honored posthumously. Mandel, who passed away in February 2026, devoted significant time to public service and fighting food insecurity. His work included volunteering with Manna Food Center and Community Food Rescue to recover surplus food from local businesses and deliver it to neighbors in need.

The 2026 Corporate Hero is OpenText Software Company. Through its Gaithersburg office, OpenText has supported Manna through company-wide food and fundraising drives as well as employee volunteer efforts at Manna’s Gaithersburg warehouse.
The reception gives the Montgomery County community an opportunity to celebrate these contributions while raising funds to help Manna continue its work.

Supporting More Than 60,000 Montgomery County Residents

Manna Food Center works toward a vision of food for all in Montgomery County through food distribution, education, and advocacy.
The organization serves more than 60,000 residents each year through initiatives including its Choice Pantry, Food Vouchers program, school programs, nutrition education, and other efforts designed to improve access to nutritious food.

That work becomes especially important when families face periods of economic uncertainty. Manna has continued supporting Montgomery County residents through economic downturns, the COVID-19 pandemic, and, more recently, federal workforce reductions affecting households throughout the region.

Funds raised through Heroes Against Hunger help support these programs and Manna’s broader mission to fight hunger, feed hope, and help neighbors regain stability.

An Evening of Recognition, Connection and Community Impact

The Heroes Against Hunger Award Reception will bring together community members, businesses, supporters, and local leaders for an evening centered on the shared goal of reducing hunger in Montgomery County.

Guests will enjoy networking, heavy hors d’oeuvres, an auction, and a wine pull while learning more about Manna’s work and the contributions of this year’s honorees.
